The "nepo babies" in cinema, these "sons and daughters of" who dominate the stage
LUDOVIC DEBEURME

Once upon a time, being well-born earned you land, a lucrative marriage, and a generous dowry. Today, it's a role in a Netflix series, a magazine cover, and a seat at the table on "C à vous." At just 20 years old, celebrity children are taking the spotlight.

Among the young "sons and daughters of", the "grandchildren of", the "brothers and sisters of", the "godchildren of" and the "cousins of", we find on our screens Lily-Rose Depp (daughter of Vanessa Paradis and Johnny Depp), Kim Higelin (granddaughter of Jacques), Suzanne Lindon (daughter of Sandrine Kiberlain and Vincent Lindon), Victor Belmondo (son of Paul), Raïka Hazanavicius (daughter of Serge), Saül Benchetrit (daughter of Anne Mouglalis and Samuel Benchetrit), Carmen Kassovitz (daughter of Mathieu), Shanna Besson (daughter of Maïwenn and Luc Besson), Mouna Soualem (daughter of Hiam Abbass and Zinedine Soualem), Paul and Samuel Kircher (sons of Irène Jacob and Jérôme Kircher), Nine d'Urso (daughter of Inès de la Fressange), Vassili Schneider (brother of Niels and Aliocha), Zoé Adjani (Isabelle's niece)... The celebrity dynasty is expanding. Certainly, lines of actors have always existed in France – Brasseur, Cassel, Bohringer, Gainsbourg or Seydoux –, but the phenomenon is today taking on an unprecedented scale, extending to all levels of fame.
